The Unity Sand Ceremony

Bride & Groom & their mothers participating.

(Groom) and (Bride) today you are making a life-long commitment to share the rest of your lives with each other. Your relationship is symbolised through the pouring of these individual containers of sand; one, represents you, (Groom) all that you were, all that you are, and all that you will ever be, and the other represents you, (Bride) all that you were, all that you are, and all that you will ever be. You each hold your separate containers of sand that represent your lives to this moment; individual and unique. As you now combine your sand together, your lives also join together as one family.
There are two women for whom words could never relay the gratitude in our bride and groom's hearts, their mothers. (Mothers' names) you have contributed so much to (bride and groom's names) lives and they wish to symbolically thank you by inviting you to join them in their sand ceremony.

We now invite the women whose contributions are immeasurable in the lives of our bride and groom, their mothers, to please come forward for the sand ceremony.

These four containers of sand represent the bride and groom and each family. You may now blend the sands together symbolising the uniting of the two families into one. Just as the grains of sand can never be separated and poured again into their individual containers, so will your marriage and your families be.

Please contact me to discuss your needs further.

Bride & Groom & their children, siblings or friends participating.

(Groom) & (Bride) before you exchange your rings, I ask that you perform a ritual which will forever hold in your memory. The essence of this Sand Ceremony is to symbolise the union of “two into one”.

Today you are making a life-long commitment to share the rest of your lives with each other. Your relationship is symbolised through the pouring of these individual containers of sand; one represents you, (Groom) all that you were, all that you are, and all that you will ever be, and the other represents you, (Bride), all that you were, all that you are, and all that you will ever be.

You each hold your separate containers of sand that represent your lives to this moment; individual and unique. As you now combine your sand together, your lives also join together as one family.

The foundation of this marriage is love & family & as more sand is poured into the container, it will not only form a stronger foundation between (Groom) & (Bride) but one of their families as well, symbolising a new “blended family”.

I now ask if each of you could pour your sand into the containers.

Also if ………. & ……… & ……… could come & join in the ceremony, by pouring their sand into the container as well.

(Groom) & (Bride) if you could now, together, pour your remaining sand into the container.

Just as these grains of sand can never be separated & poured again into the individual containers, so will your marriage be an inseparable union.
