When is a Wedding Not a Wedding

Hi guys,

It was with great interest that I read & totally agreed with Andrew Barr's posting on the Gay Marriage Blog recently & titled "When is a Wedding Not a Wedding!"

This young man has been with his partner for ten years. They live in the ACT. Although their union is recognised as a Civil Partnership & also their relationship is legally recognised in the ACT, they must not have a wedding nor can they "mimmick one" What alot of rubbish!

This loving couple have been together longer than some of the couples I have married. They have built a home together & they have a wonderful family & a great network of friends that support & love them.

They did have what they called a "wedding" with family & friends present. It sounded perfect but it wasn't legal. I think it is about time that it was!

I love my chosen profession as a Civil Marriage Celebrant. I love marrying couples that are in love & want to spend the rest of their lives together. What's the difference apart from gender?

warm regards
